Wat maakt de Dow uniek?
De Dow is prijs-gewogen — fondsen met de hoogste koers per aandeel hebben de grootste impact, niet die met de grootste beurswaarde. Een historisch overblijfsel uit 1896. Apple kreeg pas in 2015 een notering, splitsingen kunnen de gewichten drastisch veranderen zonder dat er fundamenteel iets gebeurt.
Voor wie is de Dow interessant?
- Sentiment-volgers: mainstream-media noemen “de markt” meestal met de Dow-stand.
- Dividend-jagers: veel Dow-namen zijn betrouwbare dividendbetalers (Caterpillar, IBM, Verizon).
- Cyclische beleggers: industrials zoals Boeing, Caterpillar en 3M geven een vroeg signaal van wereldwijde groei of vertraging.
