Re: Global Graphics

16 Meuro in 2016).

Xaar 1201, Digital Inkjet
16 November 2017
d.gen Launches Xaar 1201 Printers at Kosign 2017

d.gen Inc, Korea’s leading manufacturer of inkjet printing systems, is launching a new range of Papyrus 740K printers at KoSign 2017 using Xaar 1201 printheads. The new printers are optimised for printing dye sublimation & blue back paper, and will be available for d.gen’s Korean and European customers.

Using six Xaar 1201 printheads for printing up to six colours, the new Papyrus 740K printers are capable of a 1880 mm print width and print speeds of up to 80 m2/h at 1200 dpi, 55 m2/h at 1800 dpi and 40 m2/h at 2400 dpi. In addition, they come equipped with a mini- jumbo roll feeder designed with flexible tension control and a strong dryer incorporated to prevent contamination. Users looking for easy print control will find the touch panel of the Papyrus 740K a useful feature, plus there is a fully integrated feeder, ‘take-up’ and dryer.

“We are delighted to be launching a new range of our trusted graphics and textile Papyrus 740K printers using Xaar 1201 printheads,” comments d.gen's President & CEO, Mr. Kilhun Lee. “We chose the Xaar 1201 printhead as it provides us with complete flexibility. It can print up to six colours and is compatible with a wide range of aqueous inks, such as graphic pigment, textile pigment, disperse dye and dye sublimation. In addition, it also provides very high productivity compared to other printheads in the market”.

Since its launch at drupa 2016, take up of the Xaar 1201 printhead has been extremely good. “I’m delighted to be present for the launch of d.gen’s new printer range with Xaar 1201 printheads,” adds Simon Kirk, Senior Product Manager at Xaar. “Customers in a number of markets are already benefiting from the very best combination of photo quality and productivity at an affordable cost delivered by the Xaar 1201. I’m delighted that d.gen’s customers in Korea and beyond are now also able to access these advantages”.

Norwegian printer upgrades pre-press department
By Staff writer 19 Jan 2018

Norwegian family-run business Skipnes Etikett has completely revamped its pre-press department and the way in which customers receive and approve jobs, following the installation of products from Hybrid Software alongside a Cerm MIS system.

The investment has included Packz PDF editing software plus Cloudflow workflow and the Proofscope proofing facility. Hybrid Software has recently integrated Proofscope with Cerm’s Web4Labels portal software to create an end-to-end order approval system.

Skipnes Etikett trades as Skipnes Labels & Flexibles from its Trondheim premises, where Geir Hagen is managing director, who said: ‘We’ve taken a huge leap forward in terms of efficiency and our ability to better serve customers following the implementation of a range of products from Hybrid Software, which we have interfaced with a new Cerm MIS system.

‘Although we did already operate an MIS system this was a standalone package while the majority of our pre-press functions were handled manually. The speed with which jobs were checked and approved no longer met our needs.

We examined carefully what was available on the market and Hybrid Software came out ahead with what we considered to be the most modern platform and which also provided easy integration with the Cerm software. Our aim was to create a pre-press environment that would provide work effectively and quickly for our narrow web flexo presses and our HP Indigo 6800 digital press plus the in-line finishing facilities.’

Hagen continued: ‘We have been very satisfied with the results. The high level of automation means that jobs flow through the pre-press department about 30 percent faster than before, which obviously means that we can produce more work, while the potential for errors has been reduced significantly. Customers can easily view and approve files and this simplifies the whole process for them. Having our MIS system as an integral part of the pre-press environment also has great advantages in regards to cost effectiveness.’

Skipnes Labels & Flexibles operates its factory on a two-shift basis during the week and specializes in providing printed self-adhesive labels to the beverage and food sectors throughout Norway. The company intends to expand its flexo press capacity in 2018 as well as the finishing equipment for its digital output facilities.

‘With the Hybrid Software and Cerm products now in place, the pre-press department will be able to efficiently handle the extra demands of the press room,’ concluded Hagen.

Global Graphics Software has signed a cooperative agreement with long-standing OEM partner Xitron, LLC. The agreement sees Xitron take over sales and support of the Harlequin MultiRIP business of Global Graphics Software's RTI Division for all commercial offset and flexographic markets. The agreement takes effect immediately and covers the RTI customer base for Harlequin MultiRIP Computer-to-Plate and Computer-to-Film applications worldwide.
The RTI division of Global Graphics Software provides and supports custom-branded versions of the Harlequin RIP directly to print service providers and printing equipment manufacturers, mostly in the North American market. Xitron, a leading independent developer of custom RIP and workflow products for commercial, digital and high-speed inkjet printing on the Harlequin platform has been a Global Graphics OEM partner since 1991.

The agreement covers sales to new offset and flexographic customers as well as support of existing customers in those markets. It allows RTI to focus its future sales and support activities for the Harlequin RIP on the direct digital market, including the Harlequin DirectPrint™ for light production printing, screen printing and the industrial inkjet market, and allows scope for new product development.

Ken Hiller, general manager of RTI-RIPs.com, says, 'This is an exciting development for us and I look forward to working with Xitron in this new venture. We have lots of opportunities to explore together and I believe this agreement will prove a winning strategy for both parties.'

'Strategically speaking, this agreement will improve Xitron's already strong position for distribution and support of Harlequin-based RIPs and workflows in the offset and flexo markets,' said Bret Farrah, executive vice-president of Xitron. 'To date, we've sold over 35,000 Navigator RIP kits due to our ability to drive almost any computer-to-plate or film imagesetter in use. Coupled with our advancements in the high-speed inkjet sector, Xitron should be well-positioned for market expansion going forward.'

The Brave New World of Flexo Platemaking: How Digital Is Driving Demand
BY LAURIE WELLER ON JAN 31, 2018
http://www.printingnews.com/article/123 ... ing-demand

Today’s fiercely competitive retail market is fueling demand for flexographic printing like never before.

In fact, research firm Technavio predicts that the market for package printing will top $575 billion globally by 2020 with flexography well positioned as the number one platform of choice. The firm’s 2016 study, Global Printing Market for Packaging 2016 - 2020, estimates the market for flexography at around $150 billion today and growing.
